Virtual production training and setup
After installing the Vanilla System rig at the LED volume of Sapienza Università di Roma for virtual production, we ran training for their lecturers and for the people who use the studio, a five-day full-immersion course on how the whole stack works.
From A to Z, the full workflow and the right pipelines to work in a virtual production studio on an LED volume, especially with Vanilla System, and how to interface it with Unreal Engine directly. The syllabus covered:
- How the cameras work, including global shutter vs rolling shutter (whether the sensor captures the whole frame at once or scans it line by line).
- How an LED wall works and how it is set up.
- In-camera visual effects, where the final composite is captured live by the camera.
- Virtual production at large.
- Augmented reality.
- How to optimize an Unreal Engine project to run in real time on the volume.
- Lens calibration in practice.
Training is a core part of what we deliver. We run hands-on sessions for the technicians, with dedicated workshops on lens calibration, the full package.
